Today is
American Legion Riders Alaska Post 20 was established as the State Chapter for Alaska in May 2005.
To participate in parades and other ceremonies which are in keeping with the Aims and Puroses of the American Legion. To promote motorcycle safety programs and to provide a social atmospher for American Legion Members who share the same interest. To use our Chapter to promote and support the programs of the American Legion through service to our Community, State and Nation.
If you are interested in starting a Chapter at your Post, we can help.
Your Post must first approve the formation of a Chapter. Pospective members must be a current member of the American Legion, American Legion Auxilary or Sons of the American Legion. They must own a motorcycle (at least 350cc) or be the spouse of an American Legion Rider member.
Since our begining in 2005 we have Chartered three more Chapters in Alaska. The State Association is pleased to welcome the following Chapters and pledges to continue encouragement of each Post in the Department of Alaska to sponsor and promote the programs of the American Legion and American Legion Riders of Alaska.
August 2005 Kenai Chapter 20 with with 19 Life Charter Members. We have since added 4 Life Members.
May 2006 North Pole Chapter 30 with 14 Life Charter Members and 3 Supporters.
August 2006 Seward Chapter 5 with 16 Life Charter Members.
March 2007 Wasilla Chapter 35 with 13 Life Charter Members.
